고군산군도 연결도로 건설을 통하여 새만금.군산 경제 자유구역의 한 축인 고군산군도에 국제관광레저산업 허브 구축. 아름다운 고군산군도의 관광성 증진을 중점적으로 고려. 주탑의 곡선은 광활한 바다위의 돛의 이미지를 형상화하여 관광지의 이미지를 부각시켰고 높이 11m와 85m지점에 두 전망대를 설치하여 주변의 아름다운 섬군을 감상할 수 있게 디자인.

Dandeung Bridge is a part of the connection road between the islands in Gogunsan Archipelago, the International Leisure & Tourism Industry Zone as a part of Gunsan Free Trade Zone. The additional strut which is curved gives the tower appearance of a sail. And there are two observation platforms in the tower-one at 11m and another at 85m height- to attract tourists.
